The Oxford district of Woodcraft covers four age ranges:
Elfins - for young people aged 6-9. There are five Elfin groups: West Oxford, Eclipse, South Oxford, Iffley Fields, , Headington and East Oxford.
Pioneers - for young people aged 10-12. There are two Pioneer Groups: South Oxford and East Oxford.
Venturers - for young people aged 13-16. This group meets in East Oxford.
District Fellows (DFs) - for our members aged 16-early twenties.
Each group (except the DFs) has a minumum of three adult leaders (each over 18) and parents are encouraged to come along and help (particularly with the Elfin groups).
Many young people enter Woodcraft as Elfins and progress through the various levels and become involved for the rest of their lives (as adults, some become leaders). Others stay only for one phase. For all of them it is a formative experience and most will make friendships that will outlast their time in Woodcraft.
Although the different age groups meet separately during group nights, many of our camps and activity days involve our members from the entire district. Many lasting friendships are made between young people of different ages and the older ones enjoy the responsiblity of helping to care for their young colleagues. Here Pioneers and Venturers are trying to win a sandcastle competition.
